Pet adoption event set for Saturday

Doll 10 Beauty and Women’s Animal Center are partnering for this annual event

Doll 10 Beauty, an internationally-selling, cruelty-free cosmetics company based in Bucks County, is partnering with Women’s Animal Center as the sponsor of a free pet adoption event for the community on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Dolls for Paws Adoption event features family activities for all ages, food and refreshments. The main purpose of the event is to place as many shelter animals as possible into new homes. All adoption fees will be fully covered by Doll 10 Beauty in support of this life-saving initiative, as the shelter is contending with an uptick of surrendered and stray animals due in large part to financial and personal hardships of pet owners.

“Never take time for granted. Animal shelters across the country are filled with pets that need our time, and the time for us to make a difference is now,” said Dr. Doris Dalton, founder of Doll 10 Beauty and former Mrs. America titleholder. “Ignoring the problem doesn’t make it go away because the battle for abandoned animals is never over.”

This marks the fourth annual Dolls for Paws Adoption. Twenty-nine shelter pets found new homes in the 2021 event.

“Our goal is to top previous years’ success by matching even more animals with their forever families in 2022,” said Dalton.

In addition to all waived adoption fees, all event-day adoptions include spaying and neutering, vaccinations, flea/tick treatment, microchip, free and discounted veterinary services, adoption gift bags and, of course, unconditional love.

“Women’s Animal Center assists thousands of animals in need throughout the region each and every year, but receives no federal, state or local funding to do so,” said Cathy Malkemes, chief executive officer of the center. “We rely on the generosity of our community to support our work, so to have a corporate partner and friend to animals like Doll 10 Beauty is truly invaluable to us and to our animals.”

The partnership between Doll 10 Beauty and Women’s Animal Center bears deeper meaning for the two organizations in that both were founded and continue to be governed by women. Doll 10’s cruelty-free commitment to compassion for all animals is likewise important too. Caroline Earle White, who founded Women’s Animal Center as America’s First Animal Shelter in 1869, also established the American Anti-Vivisection Society, dedicated to ending the use of animals in science, education and research.

Interested adopters are encouraged to arrive early on the day of the event and streamline their option process by reviewing the shelter’s website (womensanimalcenter.org) in advance for tips on coming prepared. Adoption applications and information on some of the currently adoptable dogs, cats and small domestic animals can likewise be accessed online.

Women’s Animal Center is located at 3839 Richlieu Road in Bensalem. Doll 10 Beauty is based out of Newtown. Visit doll10.com for more information.
