Bucks college students spend summer in service

Nine residents are lending a helping hand to Habitat for Humanity, YWCA of Bucks County and other local nonprofits

Nine college students from Bucks County have been chosen to participate in Foundations Community Partnership’s 2022 Summer Youth Corps program, which offers paid internships at local nonprofit human service agencies in Bucks County serving children, youth and families.

The students gain meaningful, practical expertise while community nonprofits benefit from motivated, bright college students bringing helping hands to their organization. Since its inception in 2007, the SYC program has placed interns in 48 nonprofit agencies in the county over 15 summers.

Field supervisor Amanosi Agbugui leads this year’s SYC, visiting each intern in their placement location to provide support and coaching. A Langhorne resident, Amanosi is currently a Psy.D. candidate at William Paterson University.

Students in the 2022 Summer Youth Corps program are serving in the following locations:

– Doylestown resident Emma Myers (Central Bucks High School West) is working at Special Equestrians. She is studying social work at Elizabethtown College.

– Warrington resident Alison Freund (Central Bucks High School South) is assisting Habitat for Humanity. She is a physical therapy major at Temple University.
