Retail theft at Home Depot
Bensalem Police are investigating a retail theft that occurred at Home Depot, located at 900 Rockhill Drive, on Jan. 27 at approximately 3 p.m. It was reported that an unknown black male selected numerous circuit breakers and placed them in a reusable shopping bag. He then exited the store without paying for the merchandise, and fled the area in a white SUV. Retail theft at Kohl’s
Bensalem Police are investigating a retail theft at the Kohl’s located at 2325 Street Road on Feb. 12. It was reported around 1:50 p.m. that two unknown females stole approximately $1,000 worth of fragrances and fled the area. The first suspect was described as a black female, 20-30 years old, wearing a black coat, black pants, UGG boots and a white surgical mask. The second suspect was described as a black female, approximately 15-20 years old, wearing a black bubble jacket, black pants and UGG boots. Retail theft at Wawa
Lower Southampton Township Police are investigating a retail theft that occurred at the Wawa, located at 601 E. Street Road, on Jan. 27 at 4:52 p.m. Police said two men entered the store, took merchandise and fled without paying for the items. They were last seen fleeing the area along Philmont Avenue toward Philadelphia in a silver/gray SUV. Arrest of identity thief
On Jan. 3, Lower Southampton Police said Dennis J. Swint, 56, of Schoharie, New York, went to the Santander Bank in Feasterville with fake identification in his victim’s name, committed a cash withdrawal of $5,000 and obtained a bank check in the amount of $53,000. Swint also had the victim’s account information displayed on a banking application, which was on his cell phone, that helped authenticate the account and mislead the bank teller, allowing the transactions to go through. The victim in this case received an alert of the transactions within their account and immediately contacted the bank, which was able to stop payment of the check.
On Jan. 22, Swint was arrested in Westampton, New Jersey, while allegedly committing a similar bank account takeover. He was positively identified and remanded to the Burlington County Correctional Facility. Detectives with the Lower Southampton Township Police issued an arrest warrant for the following charges: Forgery, Identity Theft, Theft, Receiving stolen property, Criminal use of communication device, all felony offenses.
PA Southeast Chiefs host Philadelphia Commissioner Bethel
Bensalem Township director of public safety Bill McVey and other surrounding suburban chiefs attended the PA Southeast Chiefs monthly meeting recently. Philadelphia Police Department Commissioner Kevin Bethel spoke about his vision for Philly PD, the challenges they face, and how he intends to make Philly a safer city. He wants to collaborate with the surrounding suburban police departments to reduce all crime in the region, as a safer city equals safer suburbs. The Bensalem Police Department looks forward to working with Bethel.
