The Bensalem Township Police Animal Control Officer responded to the report of an injured bird near The Courtyards at Bensalem apartment complex on Sept. 21, but was surprised when the injured bird turned out to be a bald eagle.

The officer was able to safely capture the eagle that appeared to be suffering from an unknown injury. The eagle was transported to The Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center in Chalfont, where it was set to receive an examination and treatment for any injuries or diseases.

Bensalem Police are thanking residents for contacting the department, and The Aark, which is always accepting volunteers and donations, for taking in the eagle.
