TMA Bucks’ Community Traffic Safety Program manager Carly Mannon was recently the guest reader at Neshaminy School District’s Pearl S. Buck Elementary School, where she read the children’s safety book Franklin’s Bicycle Helmet to all first-grade classes.
The book highlights the importance of always wearing a safety helmet when riding your bicycle and not to be influenced or peer pressured by those around you. The book extended the learning for the students as their “Superkids” reading story recently focused on safety rules.
Anyone under the age of 12 must always wear a helmet when riding a bicycle, according to PennDOT. This applies to anyone operating the bicycle, riding as a passenger, or riding in an attached restraining seat or trailer.
