Young Rembrandts – Pre-School Drawing

These Saturday classes, from 9 to 9:45 a.m., are for ages 4-7. Instructors will use subjects preschoolers are familiar with, such as animals and toys, as well as their favorite learning tools — pictures, stories, touching and going — to enhance social and conflict resolution skills while improving listening, fine-motor skills and time-on-task. A minimum of five students are allowed in each class.

Session 1 ($80) takes place Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Session 2 ($80) takes place March 4, 11, 18 and 25. Location is Bensalem Community Park, 4301 Richlieu Road. Register at youngrembrandts.com/buxmont-pa.

Young Rembrandts – Cartoon Drawing

These Saturday classes, from 10 to 11 a.m., are for ages 8-14. This program combines Young Rembrandts’ innovative, hands-on teaching method with light-hearted subject matter that engages children, their sense of humor and their vivid imaginations. Maintaining a quick pace and drawings that tell a story also help kids to stay on-task, learn from their mistakes, find new solutions to a problem, and communicate ideas and concerts through pictures. Classes last up to 55 minutes, with a minimum of five students allowed.

Session 1 ($80) takes place Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Session 2 ($80) takes place March 4, 11, 18 and 25. Location is Bensalem Community Park, 4301 Richlieu Road. Register at youngrembrandts.com/buxmont-pa.

Mad Science Saturday Workshops – Detective Science

Students ages 6-12 will become science sleuths as they investigate how chemistry provides evidence at the scene of the crime. During this hands-on detective work, children will gather and test “crime scene” clues, make and analyze their own fingerprints, decipher codes and encrypt messages. Call 215-633-3616 for the registration form. This takes place Feb. 25, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bensalem Community Park. Cost is $25. Make checks payable to Bensalem Township.

Mad Science Saturday Workshops – Stunt Planes and Flight

This class for ages 6-12 is a mix of conceptual and hands-on learning, which introduces students to the basics of aerodynamics. Kids learn about the forces that affect flying machines and will build a football glider, a Delta Dart and a loop-flying stunt plane. Call 215-633-3616 for the registration form. This takes place March 25, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bensalem Community Park. Cost is $25. Make checks payable to Bensalem Township.

Bucks County Tennis Association

Bensalem Township is part of BCTA’s county wide tennis network. Visit buckscountytennis.usta.com for more information about tennis opportunities available to residents for the 2023 season.

Pickleball

Applications must be obtained in-person from the Parks & Rec Department, and applicants must be a Bensalem resident and 16 years of age at the time the application is acquired. Completing an application does not guarantee a position as programming needs may change for the 2023 season, making positions unavailable.
