Lower Bucks Chamber keynote program is Oct. 13

Bobbi Muscara will present ‘Blockchain, Why You Should Care Now’ in Fairless Hills

The Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce’s next keynote program is set for Thursday, Oct. 13, at Bucks County Technical High School, 610 Wistar Road, Fairless Hills. Networking and breakfast is from 7:30 to 8 a.m. and the program is from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

Bobbi Muscara, director of education, Ledger Academy, is presenting “Blockchain, Why You Should Care Now.” For the past several years, the technology world has been testing the limits of a new technology called blockchain. Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies/digital currencies and NFTs all leverage peer-to-peer blockchain technology. The shift from centralized management (one authority) to a decentralized model (consensus) and the blockchain-inspired digital revolution is going to change lives in a way not yet imagined.

Attendees will:

– Become familiar with the basic terminology in blockchain
– Understand the concept of distributed and immutable ledgers
– Learn how this new technology became possible
– Gain an understanding of digital wallets and how they can hold more than just currency
– Become familiar with Decentralized Finance and concepts in CBDC, Central Bank Digital Currencies
– Learn about NFTs and the role the metaverse has in interacting with blockchain technology

Muscara is the director of education at Ledger Academy, a Web-3 learning center operating since 2016 and training in Web-3 topics around the globe. Ledger Academy now hosts training experiences in the metaverse. Muscara is currently on the Technical Steering Committee at The Hyperledger Foundation, a Linux foundation open-source blockchain platform provider. She has also served as the chairperson for the Hyperledger Learning Materials Working Group, where she would develop, curate and manage educational materials for the community.

She is a graduate of Rider University with two undergraduate degrees (computer science and business management) and a masters in business education. She is a New Jersey Certified Business/Technology educator. Muscara is the winner of the 2020 Blockchain Social Impact Award from the Government Blockchain Association for the Giving Chain Project, a socially relevant blockchain project to provide a supply chain blockchain platform to be leveraged for disaster/charity relief efforts.
