National Public Parks Tennis Championships coming to Bucks

The weekend-long tournament is set for July 22-24

This summer, the National Public Parks Tennis Championships are returning to the Philadelphia area for the first time since 1926. Hosted by the Bucks County Tennis Association and supported by the Bucks County Tourism Grant Program, the championships will run the weekend of July 22-24.

The tournament’s formal announcement, along with the Bucks County Board of Commissioners issuing a proclamation that May is National Tennis Month throughout Bucks County, was made May 24 at Central Park’s tennis courts in Doylestown. Commissioner Bob Harvie read the proclamation at a brief ceremony, which was attended by BCTA participants and their families, members of the Doylestown Township board of supervisors and Doylestown Township Parks & Recreation board, representatives from Visit Bucks County and BCTA representatives.

The NPPTC tennis weekend in July includes the 20th annual BCTA Jr. Classic, adult prize money open tournaments, and NTRP-level tournaments (of which the women’s double divisions will be in honor of local tennis player, coach and volunteer Carol White, who passed away in 2019), and the biannual novice-level BCTA Team Challenge (invitational event).

The weekend also includes a tournament player picnic/reception on Saturday and a free T-shirt to the first 500 NPPTC registrants. Visit the 2022 NPPTC tournament web page at publicparkchampionships.com for more details, registration, hotel information and other happenings, including:
