Truman recognized for impressive seatbelt use

The high school had the greatest percentage increase in seatbelt use for the 15th annual Bucks County High School Seatbelt Safety Challenge

TMA Bucks recently presented Truman High School and principal Jon Craig with a cash grant and trophy plaque for achieving the greatest percentage increase in seatbelt use over all schools at five percent (77% in fall to 82% in spring) for the 15th annual Bucks County High School Seatbelt Safety Challenge.

Teacher and Students Against Destructive Decisions advisor Colleen Spinelli received the award, along with her senior SADD students, on May 26. SADD co-advisor Jaimie Shifren was also present, along with teacher Suzanne Denny, who runs the drivers education program at the high school.

TMA Bucks deputy director Dave Walter and TMA Bucks Community Traffic Safety Program manager Carly Mannon congratulated the teachers, students and administration for their strong commitment to teen driver safety.

“Truman High School has made it a priority to focus on teen driver safety through so many different initiatives throughout the year and this achievement is proof that their hard work and the message of how important it is to be safe drivers is getting through,” said Walter.

Earlier in May, it was announced that New Hope-Solebury High School was the overall winner of the safety challenge.
