Habitat for Humanity gathered in Bristol on April 28 to celebrate the dedication of its 124th Bucks County home.
New homeowner Melissa and her two boys moved from a one-bedroom apartment they shared, into a three-bedroom, ranch-style home. Now, everyone has a space of their own.
“My biggest dream for myself and sons was a house, one we can call our own, one that no one can take from us, one we can put the hard work in to make it what we want,” said Melissa. “I was a kid without these things – no house, no home and no stability. I strive to be the opposite. This is a dream come true.”
“At Habitat Bucks, we believe that affordable housing plays a critical role in strong, stable communities. Experts also draw a straight line between housing quality and the wellbeing of children,” said Stacey Mullholland, vice president, Habitat board of directors.
Habitat homes offer families a path toward stability and independence. Lead sponsors of this home included Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Bucks County Foundation, County of Bucks, DOW, First Bank and William Penn Bank.
