Lower Bucks Times editor Samantha Bambino won two Keystone Media Awards, sponsored by the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association, it was announced last week.
Bambino won first place in Lifestyle/Entertainment Beat for “Music in Bucks during COVID.” The stories chronicled how several bands/artists – The Waywoods, Bright Kelly, Moonroof and American Idol’s David Archuleta – adapted their artistry during COVID to continue releasing new music.
She took honorable mention in Personality Profile for a story on Russell Thompson, a Trevose man in hospice who took his 13th grandchild to a Flyers game.
More than 2,500 entries were received from 110 Pennsylvania news organizations for work published in 2021. There were 53 regular categories and 12 specialty categories across seven circulation and four broadcast divisions.
The Lower Bucks Times competes in Division V, for weekly papers with a circulation of more than 6,000.
The judging was done by journalists in Virginia.
Awards will be presented during the Keystone Media Awards brunch on Oct. 12 at the Sheraton Hotel in Harrisburg.
