SCORE Bucks County is offering five free webinars in April in a continued effort to keep the local business community informed.

“Run Your Nonprofit Like a Business” takes place April 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Geared for new or existing small nonprofits, this webinar provides participants with insight on all the normal financial, operational, fundraising and regulatory issues that all small organizations deal with. Led by SCORE Bucks County certified mentor Joe Lutes, the session covers the following topics: the importance of management reporting; why boards and fundraising go hand in hand; staying compliant with taxes and regulations.

“Is Your Great Idea Really a Great Business?” takes place April 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This webinar focuses on determining whether a great idea can be made into a business. Led by SCORE Bucks County certified mentor Don Goeltz, a Holy Family University professor in the school of business, the session covers how a tool called the business model canvas can help discern if a great idea translates to a viable business. Attendees can gain insights into their business idea by: developing an in-depth understanding of the value proposition of a product or service; formulating a persona of an ideal target customer; defining the cost structure and where partners can lower costs and accelerate growth.

“Are You Ready to be an Entrepreneur?” takes place April 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The session provides an overview of what it takes to be your own boss. Would-be entrepreneurs can gain more insight on: the responsibility that comes with being your own boss; learning from mistakes that will occur along the way; being an expert in your field; becoming a multi-tasker.

“Cybersecurity for Small Business – What You Need to Know” takes place April 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This session is led by Richard Zweig, owner of CMIT Solutions, who provides an overview of the cybersecurity environment and how it directly affects small businesses. Topics include: security concerns for small businesses; what do you need to protect; steps that can be taken now to improve security.

“How to Get Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) Certified” takes place April 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and features Colleen LaCross, of the Women’s Business Enterprise Center. Discussion points include: the eligibility requirements; the process, costs, documents required and what to expect; the benefits and opportunities available to certified women-owned businesses.
