The Samuel Staten, Sr. Charitable Trust, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is holding its 23rd Annual Charity Golf Classic on Tuesday, May 31, at Spring Mill Country Club in Ivyland.

The outing is being held in honor of Patrick J. Eiding, president of the Philadelphia Council AFL-CIO. He will be presented with the Making A Difference Award at the evening banquet by Samuel Staten, Jr., business manager LIUNA Local Union #332, secretary/treasurer of Laborers’ District Council of the Metropolitan Area of Philadelphia and Vicinity, and international vice president of the Laborers’ International Union of North America.

“I’m deeply honored to be receiving this award,” said Eiding. “Sam Staten, Sr. was a tremendous labor leader and someone I am proud to have been able to call my friend. The legacy Sam has left through his namesake organization is a rich tribute to a man who gave so much of himself as a leader. It is my belief that our labor movement will continue to prosper as long as we can honor Sam’s legacy of service.”

Dedicated sponsors and participants have raised over $2,860,000 in the past 22 years. Registration and more information is available at statencharitabletrust.org/. Proceeds from this event benefit various charities, including the Qa’id Staten Memorial Scholarship Fund. Honoree Eiding has chosen the Working Families Partnership of Philadelphia and Vicinity to receive some of the funds raised from the event.
