Ali Z. Ahmad, a Bensalem High School senior, has been named a Commended Student in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. A letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, was presented to this scholastically-talented senior by principal William Ferrara and 12th grade assistant principal Brian Butler.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation have been recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2022 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2022 competition by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Ahmad has been a principal’s list honor roll student through high school. He is a member of Team 5401: FIRST Robotics, Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science, National Honor Society, Mathletes and the tennis team. His hobbies include programming, gardening, exercising, reading and playing video games. Ahmad plans to dual major in computer science and physics. His goal is to become a quantum computer scientist and then a politician.
