Middletown Township announced that registration is now open for its Summer Recreation Program and Youth Basketball.
Summer Rec is an 8-week camp program that provides children a variety of enrichment opportunities, including games, sports, crafts, nature activities and more. This outdoor summer program is for ages 6-13, and runs June 21-Aug. 13.
Options include half day (9 a.m. to noon), full day (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.), extended day (8 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.) and a middle school-aged program. There are 4- and 8-week packages. Programs are offered at Core Creek Park, Community Park and Raymond P. Mongillo Community Center. There’s limited availability for each program. Youth Basketball is open to boys and girls ages 8-17, and is intended for beginners to advanced players. All games are played at night on outdoor courts at Firefighters’ Park. The league is co-ed. Teams are assigned based on age. Each team plays twice a week on a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday cycle. No team registrations are allowed. A breakdown of who plays each night is below:
– Monday/Wednesday: Ages 8-9 at 6:30 p.m.; age 11 at 7:30 p.m.; ages 13-14 at 8:30 p.m.
– Tuesday/Thursday: Age 10 at 6:30 p.m.; age 12 at 7:30 p.m.; ages 15-17 at 8:30 p.m.
When registering, you can fill out a blank space to let the township know of any friends your child would like to play with. While the township does take requests, it cannot guarantee all requests will be granted.
Cost is $83 for residents; $97 for non-residents. Late fee (sign ups after May 31) is $103 for residents; $117 for non-residents. The basketball season runs July 12-Aug. 19.
