‘Honoring Our Women Veterans’ license plates available during Women’s History Month

Proceeds from each plate benefit programs and resources for women veterans in Pennsylvania

In honor of Women’s History Month in March, the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is encouraging residents to purchase an “Honoring Our Women Veterans” license plate to recognize the important role women veterans have played in our nation’s history through their military service. Each plate costs $36, with $15 going to the Pennsylvania Veterans’ Trust Fund for programs and resources benefiting women veterans.

“Pennsylvania is home to approximately 60,000 women veterans and we are proud to honor the role they played in service and sacrifice to our nation’s history by offering the ‘Honoring Our Women Veterans’ license plate,” said Maj. Gen. Mark Schindler, Pennsylvania’s acting adjutant general and acting head of the DMVA. “Purchasing and displaying one of these plates not only shows your support of women veterans, but also allows you to directly fund programs that benefit women veterans throughout our Commonwealth.”

The “Honoring Our Women Veterans” license plate is available for passenger cars or trucks with a registered gross weight of not more than 14,000 pounds.

The VTF issues grants to statewide charitable organizations that aid veterans service organizations and county directors of veterans affairs. These valuable advocates use available grants to assist veterans in need of shelter and necessities of living, among other services.

“PennDOT is proud to offer this special license plate and honor Pennsylvania’s women veterans who have made significant contributions to our military efforts in peacetime and in war,” said PennDOT Secretary Yassmin Gramian. “What is nice about this plate is that you do not need to be a woman veteran to purchase it. The plate is available for purchase by anyone who wants to show their appreciation for the service of women veterans.”

Additionally, “Honoring Our Veterans” license plates for passenger cars, trucks with a registered gross weight of not more than 14,000 pounds and motorcycles are available for $37 each, with $15 benefiting the VTF.

In addition to the sales of these license plates, there are several other programs designed to help fund the VTF in support of Pennsylvania veterans. To learn more, visit vtf.pa.gov
