Cairn University appoints three new deans

Appointments were made for the Schools of Divinity, Education, and Liberal Arts & Sciences

The Langhorne-based Cairn University appointed three new deans in the Schools of Divinity, Education, and Liberal Arts & Sciences, effective July 1.

Dr. Keith Plummer will serve as the dean of Cairn University’s School of Divinity.

He has served at Cairn as a professor of theology since 2010. He has taught courses primarily about biblical hermeneutics, pastoral counseling and apologetics. He has also developed a course at both graduate and undergraduate levels that discusses the relationship between modern technology and effective Christian discipleship.

An alumnus of Brown University, Plummer earned an MDiv specializing in apologetics and a PhD in systematic theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Before teaching at Cairn, he served as associate pastor at Our Saviour Evangelical Free Church in Wheeling, Illinois, for 18 years, where his primary responsibilities were adult education and pastoral counseling. He also served as a volunteer police chaplain for 10 of those years.

In his new role, Plummer looks forward to providing leadership and support to faculty members for whom he has built great respect. Plummer’s new role also includes oversight of the School of Divinity undergraduate degree programs now being offered through Cairn Online.

Dr. Stacey Bose will serve as the dean of Cairn University’s School of Education.

Bose is bringing her instructional expertise from her over 25-year educational career to her leadership role in the School of Education. As an educator and administrator, Bose worked with the Bible Fellowship Board of Missions for 16 years, serving schools in South Korea, Brazil, Panama and Ecuador. With her wide array of cultural experiences, Bose has a unique understanding of many educational techniques, and she plans to implement this knowledge in her role to help form qualified and competent educators.

Bose is a graduate of Clark Summit University, East Stroudsburg University, and Leigh University, where she received her EdD, specializing in educational leadership. Up until her transition to the university, Bose held the position of director of accreditation in Liberty University’s School of Education.

Dr. Aneesh Khushman will serve as the dean of Cairn University’s School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He has served as an associate professor of biology at the university since fall 2019.

After earning his MD from the Xavier University School of Medicine, Khushman pursued medical mission work at a hospital in rural central India – not far from where his parents emigrated to the United States. His experiences at the hospital developed his understanding of the importance of effective healthcare, as well as what he sees as the unique benefit of Christian healthcare workers. He regularly returns to India to continue medical mission work.

Instead of pursuing a medical career when he returned to the United States, Khushman directed his expertise toward educating the next generation of medical professionals. For several years, he taught anatomy and physiology at Bucks County Community College, Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, and Salus University in Elkins Park. He also held the position of professor of health sciences and biology coordinator at Manor College in Jenkintown.

Though he has been at Cairn only a short time, Khushman has become an integral part of the University’s biology programs. In his new role as dean, he looks forward to continuing to teach and providing leadership to the school’s various programs, including the programs now being offered through Cairn Online.
