National Travel & Tourism Week 2020 celebrates ‘Spirit of Travel’

Visit Bucks County is encouraging residents to take a covered bridges tour, support local businesses and more this week

This week is National Travel and Tourism Week, the annual celebration of the contributions and accomplishments of the U.S. travel industry, which is spotlighting resilience and hope in the face of the coronavirus pandemic with this year’s theme, “Spirit of Travel.”

Since in-person events that have been hallmarks of NTTW in years past are not an option this year, instead, Visit Bucks County is celebrating by:

– Reminding locals and potential future tourists of all that is currently open in Bucks County with resources via social media. This includes covered bridges and barn driving tours, county and state parks, as well as the scenic beauty of the county and all restaurants, accommodations, wineries and breweries offering takeout, delivery, gift cards and online shopping.
– Lighting up hotel rooms and attractions with the shape of a heart to honor tourism and hospitality industry workers on Bucks County’s frontline at the Hampton Inn Doylestown and Parx Casino, as well as a huge heart on the wall and windows inside the lobby of the Home2 Suites Warminster.

“This has been an incredibly challenging time for Bucks County, but we must persevere and work together to get us to the other side of this health and economic crisis. We see National Travel and Tourism Week as an opportunity to remind our visitors and our residents of the incredible spirit and resiliency of the travel industry and our hospitality workforce,” said Paul Bencivengo, President/COO. “We encourage those who can to continue to support local businesses to do so by ordering takeout and delivery from local restaurants, shopping online at local stores, ordering gift cards for future shop visits, leaving positive reviews on local businesses’ websites and more. Bucks County will be ready to welcome travelers with open arms when the time is right.”
