Andy Meehan, who is challenging U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-1st dist.) in the Republican primary, is promising to sponsor and champion the Sanctuary Victims Act.
Under the act, municipalities that receive federal funding would be prohibited from enacting and enforcing sanctuary policies.
Municipal officials would be required to publish accurate, timely reports of compliance with federal regulations of illegal immigration.
Municipal officials who refuse to comply with federal regulations regarding illegal immigration would face prosecution.
Meanwhile, Republican activist Anne Chapman is supporting Meehan in the primary.
Chapman, who backs Meehan’s pro-life views and his support for President Donald Trump, is calling for financial support for Meehan. She criticized the Bucks County Republican Party for not giving Meehan a chance to win its endorsement.
Meehan is president of an investment firm and grandson of the late Philadelphia GOP boss Austin Meehan.
