Farry honors local WWII veteran with 100th birthday celebration

Eugene Edwards was presented with a House citation

Rep. Frank Farry (R-Bucks) recently honored local World War II veteran Eugene Edwards’ 100th birthday by presenting him with a House citation and recognizing his many years of sacrifice in the armed forces.

Farry joined Jesse Soby Post #148 in Langhorne to hold a special ceremony in recognizing the local hero, who turned 100 years old on Wednesday, Feb. 26.

“I am truly humbled to have joined Eugene in celebrating his 100th birthday. He is such an inspiration to us all and has shown unmeasurable acts of heroism and bravery throughout the years,” Farry said. “There is no one who deserves this special recognition more than Eugene for reaching such an incredible milestone. I wish him all the best in the years to come.”

While enlisted in the United States Armed Forces, Edwards proudly served in eight campaigns during World War II. He served in Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy and Rhineland Ardennes, and was awarded many citations, including several bronze stars. He is a resident of Langhorne, a father of one child, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
