Bucks Live! presents Cuban world music Aguas Trio March 7

Omar Sosa, Yilian Cañizares and Gustavo Ovalles come direct to Newtown from Birdland in Harlem to share their roots and traditions at the Zlock PAC

Bucks County Community College is presenting Omar Sosa’s Aguas Trio with Yilian Cañizares and Gustavo Ovalles on Saturday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m., as part of Bucks Live! cultural events.

Sosa, a pianist, and violinist-vocalist Cañizares – both from Cuba – are joined by Venezuelan Ovalles on percussion. Together, their Aguas Trio presents an inventive and engaging mix of the artists’ Afro-Cuban roots, Western classical music and jazz.

Aguas Trio is currently on a national tour, hopping from Birdland in Harlem, to Phoenix, to Los Angeles, to Boston, and to Newtown, among other prominent venues.

The concert takes place in the Kevin and Sima Zlock Performing Arts Center, located inside the Gateway Center building on campus at 275 Swamp Road, Newtown. Parking is free. The theater is equipped with audio-loop technology for the hearing impaired.

Reserved seating tickets are $20 for adults and free for Bucks County Community College students with current ID. In addition, a limited number of VIP tickets are available for $30, including a pre-concert reception beginning at 6 p.m. with light hors d’oeuvres and two glasses of wine or beer. VIP ticket holders must be age 21 or older.
