Republicans have endorsed K.C. Tomlinson, a funeral director and daughter of state Sen. Tommy Tomlinson, as their candidate in the March 17 special election in the 18th Legislative District.
Tomlinson is seeking to replace Republican Gene DiGirolamo, who resigned earlier this month to become a Bucks County commissioner.
Democratic committee members residing in the 18th Assembly District gathered in Bensalem Township on Friday evening to decide who they want to be their candidate for the upcoming special election to fill the vacancy left by DiGirolamo.
The committee voted to recommend Rachel Fingles, who currently sits on the board of the Bensalem School District.
“This recommendation means so much to me. Bensalem is my home and I want to see it move forward,” Fingles said. “It is past time we shift our priorities toward lifting up our families, local businesses and schools who have been neglected and struggling for too long.”
Once confirmed by the county and state Democratic parties, Fingles would be on the ballot for the special election.
“I’m grateful this committee has put its faith in me,” she added. “I take their responsibility to choose who they believe will be the best candidate for this race and the strongest individual to represent the people of Bensalem very seriously.”
The 18th Assembly District encompasses all of Bensalem Township.
