Students at Cairn University now have a streamlined way to pursue graduate studies in pharmaceuticals, biomedical science and forensics thanks to three agreements recently signed by Cairn University and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
As stated in the agreements, PCOM will accept up to three Cairn University students per year into its Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), Biomedical Sciences (MS) and MS in Forensics Medicine programs. In order to be considered for admission, Cairn students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative and science cumulative GPA, take specific prerequisite courses, apply to their chosen graduate program, and have a successful interview with the PCOM Admissions Committee.
These agreements will be of particular interest to students who are enrolled in or are considering applying to any of the university’s four biology degree programs: Biology (BA), Biology (BS), Biology: Pre-Med and Biology: Pre-Physical Therapy.
While the PharmD program is only available for students who complete a Biology (BS) program, any Cairn student who meets the admissions requirements may apply for the Biomedical Sciences (MS) or MS in Forensic Medicine programs. For instance, students in the Criminal Justice program have the opportunity to pursue forensic studies at PCOM after graduation.
“These admissions agreements with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine offer Cairn students a streamlined path to several of PCOM’s excellent graduate programs,” said Dr. Brenda Mellon, dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. “They will allow more Cairn students to serve Christ in the fields of science and medicine.”
