Cairn University, 200 Manor Ave., Langhorne, is hosting a collection of art from distinguished local artist Dale O. Roberts. Located in the Connie A. Eastburn Gallery, the exhibit will be on display until Dec. 7.
Roberts produces art through a variety of methods including encaustic painting – the method on display in this exhibit. Through an in-depth process dating to as early as Roman civilization, encaustic painting produces an intriguing appearance through the application of heat and scraping away of excess paint.
Roberts explains this method has become “an extension of my own vision to the point where technique and aesthetic have fused like the paintings themselves.”
Ultimately, Roberts attempts to display his subjects in such a way that reveals what a casual observer might overlook. His paintings have been included in private and public locations across the United States and in Barcelona, Spain.
The Eastburn Gallery is open for viewing Monday-Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Those interested in a group tour should contact Matthew Stemler at mstemler@cairn.edu.
