Honoring the forgotten heroes of the Women’s Rights Movement

Sandy Kerr of the League of Women Voters will host a presentation on Sept. 13 at Neshaminy High School

1919-1920 are important years in women’s history but, 100 years later, we tend to forget the mighty effort that was waged to secure women’s right to vote. We owe much to the forgotten heroes of the suffragette movement.

The Langhorne Council for the Arts invites the public to a special presentation by Sandy Kerr of the League of Women Voters on those strong, determined women who had an enormous impact on society and government.

This event will take place at the Black Box Theater at Neshaminy High School, 2001 Old Lincoln Hwy., Langhorne, on Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. It is an informative and inspiring look at these remarkable women. A $5 donation at the door is requested to support LCA’s student scholarship fund.

Throughout the fall of 2019 and spring of 2020, LCA will work with middle and high school teachers at Neshaminy to engage students in writing and poster contests related to women’s rights as an adjunct to their curriculum. More information on this partnership is to come.

LCA is also honoring amazing women from Bucks County. Who are the forgotten female heroes or pioneers in their field from your community? Let LCA know by emailing info@langhornearts.org so it can include them in the upcoming event.
