Andy Meehan, president of an investment advisory firm, announced a primary challenge to Republican U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick.
Meehan is the grandson of the late Austin Meehan, who led Philadelphia Republicans when they controlled the city pre-1950s.
In a video, Meehan calls Fitzpatrick a “weak-kneed, fake Republican” and a “Trump-hating RINO,” meaning a Republican In Name Only.
The candidate said he is challenging Fitzpatrick to give GOP voters a choice of whom they want to see on the same ticket as President Trump next year.
“Never fear. Andrew Meehan is here,” he said.
