JULY 3

Genealogy Workshop: Southampton Free Library, at 947 Street Road, will host a Genealogy Workshop at 10:30 a.m. Susan Koelble, a professional genealogist, will lead a workshop on genealogical research and assist attendees with their own research. JULY 4

Lower Southampton Township July 4th Parade: The parade begins at Second Street and Bustleton Pike in Feasterville at 1 p.m. and will feature performances by the Eagles Pep Band, South Philadelphia and Uptown string bands, Jody King, the Boogie Dogs Band, Andalusia Jug Band, Tri-County Band, Bracken Cavaliers Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps and St. Columcille United Gaelic Band. There will also be visiting and local fire departments, classic and antique cars and floats.

Middletown 4th of July Parade: The parade starts with a short ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Park, 700 Veterans Highway in Levittown, at 9 a.m. The route is from the Veterans Memorial Park on Veterans Highway to Trenton Road. The parade follows Trenton Road to Twin Oaks Park. Bleachers will be set up at the Community Center at 2140 Trenton Road and at Statesman Health & Rehabilitation Center at 2629 Trenton Road.

Old-fashioned Fourth of July Celebration: The celebration will take place on the grounds of Fonthill Castle, 84 S. Pine St. in Doylestown, from noon to 4 p.m. Festivities include a decorated bike parade, watermelon-eating contests, wheelbarrow and sack races, tug-of-war and live music. Food vendors will be available on-site.

JULY 5

Cat Adoption: Come meet the furry love of your life at the Cat Tales Adoption Center, at the Warrington Pavilion Shopping Center, 1111 Easton Road, Suite 17 (next door to Animal Lifeline Thrift Store), in Warrington. The shelter facility is open to the general public Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8, Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. For information, visit cattalesinc.org

Intro to Kayaking: This event will take place at Silver Lake Nature Center, 1306 Bath Road in Bristol, from 9 to 11 a.m. This two-hour class, led by Melanie Pawlowski, introduces participants to the parts of a kayak, how to hold and move a kayak paddle, how to enter and exit a kayak, ways to keep your balance while kayaking and how to get around on the water in a kayak. Class size is limited. Pre-registration and payment is required (at least two days prior to program) in order to participate. Magic: the Gathering: Comic Archive, 319 W. Main St. in Lansdale, hosts this event at 2 p.m. This classic family-friendly card game enhances strategic thinking and skills while teaching good sportsmanship. Admission is free. Andalusia Historic House Tours: Tour the Andalusia Mansion, 1237 State Road in Bensalem, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays, except for major holidays. Enjoy a self-guided garden tour of Andalusia Mansion, a national historic landmark and home of Nicholas Biddle. See original furnishings, art and decorative arts and learn about the history of Andalusia. Reservations required. Space is limited. Cost is $20 per person. Code Club: The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library, 680 Radcliffe St. in Bristol, is hosting Code Club, a STEM educational series for children in grades 2 through 8. The club will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. weekly. Students in grades 2-4 will meet on Mondays, and grades 5-8 will meet on Tuesdays. Using Prenda software, children will learn how to code in Blocky, JavaScript, HTML/CSS and Python and to build websites, video games, apps and more. Registration is required. Participants are invited to bring their own laptop or Chromebook to each session. A limited number of library Chromebooks will be available to use. Family Fun Days: The Bucks County Family Service Center, a ministry of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, is hosting Family Fun Days on Tuesdays throughout the summer. All Family Fun Days are open to the public and take place at 10 a.m. at the Fatima Catholic Outreach Center, 2915 Street Road in Bensalem. Events include “Fun in the Sun Summer Safety” (barbecue and lawn games) on July 9; “Family Cooking with Shara Aaron,” registered dietitian at St. Mary Medical Center, on July 23; “Family Literacy Day with Pat,” librarian with the Bensalem branch of the Bucks County Free Library, on Aug. 6; and “Back to School Safety” on Aug. 20.
