The Trevose Horticultural Society is staging its annual standard flower show Birds of a Feather on Friday, Aug. 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at St. Ephrem Catholic Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem.

The public is invited. Admission is free. Non-members are welcome to enter, however, advanced registration is required for competitive design entries. Contact the advance registration chair at 215-322-4154 prior to Aug. 8.

The event features a design division, horticultural division and a newly-added youth and sponsored groups division, in which youth and senior groups from the Bensalem Senior Center will compete in their respective classes by decorating birdhouses with paint and natural materials.

Several informative displays will focus on broadening the public’s environmental awareness. These include Birds of a Feather – Life is Better with Families by Blanche Gottel, owner of The Plant Lady of Bucks County LLC. The exhibit will showcase three plant families and/or major groups that are common in most households and offices and are easy to grow and maintain.

The exhibit Trevose Horticultural Society Past and Present, coordinated by show chairperson Karen Wychock, of Warrington, will feature the society’s 96-year history, highlighting its recent NGC and Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania State awards for last year’s Traveling the Orient Express flower show.

A selection of homemade goods, home-grown flowers and produce, bird-themed novelties, potted plants and more will be available for purchase.
