On Monday, Jan. 21, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, sixth-grade students at School Lane Charter School, 2400 Bristol Pike in Bensalem, spent the morning compiling bags of much-needed supplies for the homeless.
The bags would later be distributed by SELF Inc., a nonprofit that operates seven shelters in Philadelphia.
In October, the students held a donation drive to collect supplies such as shampoo, toothpaste, hair brushes and socks. A representative from SELF and one of the organization’s former clients also spoke to the students to share the impact of this critical outreach.
