The Bucks County Opportunity Council recently elected two new members to its board of directors. They are: Jacob A. Iampietro of Jamison, senior vice president, retail banking director of Penn Community Bank; and Alayna M. Lopez of Quakertown, sales and service manager of Penn Community Bank.

Iampietro has more than seven years of banking experience with both Penn Community Bank and Citizens Bank. He is a graduate of St. Joseph’s University and was a volunteer with Junior Achievement.

Lopez has worked for Penn Community Bank since 2016 and has served on the United Way of Bucks County’s Emerging Leaders Committee.

BCOC operates with a tripartite governing board that includes representatives of the local government, private sector and former clients. The board is responsible for assuring that the agency continues to assess and respond to the causes and conditions of poverty in the community, achieve anticipated outcomes and remain administratively and fiscally sound.

For more than 50 years, BCOC has partnered with others in the community to help fight poverty through its five signature programs: the Economic Self-Sufficiency Program partners those in need with coaches to create an action plan toward self-sufficiency; the food program manages the distribution of food throughout the country at more than 60 partner sites; VITA volunteers provide free income tax preparation assistance to low and moderate income families; emergency assistance helps families in crisis facing issues such as homelessness, utility shut off, medical or transportation issues; and weatherization evaluates the energy efficiency of a home and can often help promote efficiency with additional insulation or materials.
