RSVP Philadelphia’s Home Delivered Meals Program, headquartered at Kleinlife, 10100 Jamison Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, continues to be available for seniors in Bucks, Philadelphia and Montgomery counties who are unable to shop or cook for themselves.
“Our Home Delivered Meals Program is currently providing area seniors who struggle with food insecurity some 70,000 home delivered meals annually. Our program includes Cook for a Friend, which is dependent on some 30 volunteer cooking groups who prepare the meals, which are then frozen and packaged for delivery by a group of volunteer drivers,” said Julie Borsky, community services director for RSVP Philadelphia. “If you have a senior member of your family or a senior friend who needs help in getting their meals provided and they reside in Philadelphia, Bucks or Montgomery counties, I urge them to take advantage of our meals program. Our goal is that no senior in our area goes hungry.”
The program maintains an inventory of poultry, beef, fish and dairy meals made by Cook for a Friend for $3 per meal or catered meals with similar options from Betty The Caterer for $6 per meal, from which seniors can make their selections. All of the foods are kosher and use garden-fresh ingredients, which are easily microwavable.
