Wells Fargo has made a $10,000 grant to the Bucks County Opportunity Council for the Bucks County Housing Link, the central point of information, assessment and referral services for all Bucks residents experiencing a housing crisis.
The Housing Link is a collaborative program between multiple nonprofit providers and Bucks County, and includes a call center and several assessment centers. Accessed by phone at 1–800–810–4434, it screens callers with a brief interview to determine the household’s basic eligibility for housing assistance and refers them to the nearest regional coordinated assessment center to develop a housing plan.
“People may associate homelessness with big cities, but homelessness can happen anywhere for any number of reasons,” said Jared Merlie, Wells Fargo’s community bank district manager for the Bucks West market. “Our Wells Fargo team wants to make sure that Bucks County citizens have access to the services they need and our support of Bucks County Opportunity Council and the Housing Link is a huge part of helping those who need help the most.”
Last year, the Housing Link screened more than 4,000 phone calls and over 72 percent were assessed for housing issues or referred to other community services. Fifty-seven percent of the callers were referred to housing services such as emergency shelter, rental assistance or rapid rehousing.
