New uniforms on the way for Bristol Borough crossing guards

Bristol Borough Council voted unanimously to approve Police Chief Steven Henry’s request for new crossing guard uniforms. Within about a month, the borough’s 15 crossing guards will receive new outfits with reflective lining, at a total cost of $3,000.

Henry made the request following the guards’ annual safety training review. The new gear, which will also come with extras for substitutes, will bring their uniforms up to American National Standards Institute for traffic safety. They will also make the guards more visible for children who may need them.

“It’s good for the kids to see them and understand that there are adults around who are in a position of authority,” said Henry after the meeting.
