Newtown Democratic Club endorses Jerry Schenkman

Tom Waring, the Wire

The Newtown Township Democratic Club recently endorsed Jerry Schenkman for a seat on the Bucks County Magisterial District Court.

“I am honored to be the endorsed candidate for district judge of our towns,” Schenkman said. “To be selected from among the other candidates seeking this seat is humbling and exciting. I hope to be able to call upon them should I win the primary and general election in November, to work with me on a Mediation Panel Project to assist me in resolving as many conflicts as possible that come before the court.”

Schenkman is vying for the seat previously held by Judge Donald Nasshorn, who died in December of brain cancer. He was 61 and had served for 27 years.

Schenkman, a 1976 Rutgers University School of Law graduate, has been practicing law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for nearly four decades. His practice has offices on State Street in Newtown and in Hamilton, New Jersey. His specialties include workers’ compensation and personal injury.

“I have the experience, temperament and time necessary to become a judge people will respect and be proud of as a leader of our community,” Schenkman said.

In addition to his law experience, Schenkman served six years as a Newtown Township supervisor beginning in 2006.

Dennis Fisher, Newtown Democratic Club president, believes Schenkman will make an excellent judge.

“Jerry is level-headed, reasonable, intelligent and non-partisan,” Fisher said. “He has worked hard for Newtown over many years. He will make an excellent judge. This club has endorsed him for good reason. He is the right person for the job.”

The endorsed Republican candidate is Mick Petrucci, a state constable and president of the Newtown Business Association.
