State Rep. Kristin Marcell (R-178th dist.) announced that she is running for re-election in 2024. She was elected to Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives in 2022.

“It is an honor to serve the residents of the 178th District and to work together on priorities like education, public safety, fiscal responsibility and growing our economy,” she said. “While we have made progress in my first term, there is more to be done, which is why I am asking for their support again.”

Marcell has aimed to make commonsense and the ability to bring differing sides together a hallmark of her first term, which is how she was able to pass legislation into law in a divided government, and help force the removal of a representative accused of repeated sexual harassment.

“I learned early as both a business professional and school board member that finding common ground on issues is the only way to achieve goals and move forward. That is a practice I have continued as representative and it is what I will continue to do if re-elected,” said Marcell.

Two of Marcell’s legislative initiatives were inserted into Senate bills that were passed and signed into law. Act 43 of 2023 dealt with educating the public about the dangers of human use of xylazine, which has been on the rise in the commonwealth. Act 41 of 2023, commonly known as the “Porch Pirate Law,” increases criminal penalties from theft of delivered packages from homes or businesses, which has impacted almost 2 million Pennsylvanians.

Looking to the future, Marcell said she will “ignore the partisan games and continue working to address the challenges our state faces.” She said her issues focus will be on controlling state spending to combat inflation, working to make healthcare more accessible and affordable, fighting to improve public safety, and pushing for education modernization to support the workforce of the future.

While fighting for local residents in Harrisburg, Marcell also maintains strong constituent services at home. She and her staff have helped thousands of residents address their issues with state government, in the process helping families, charities, small businesses and more.

“Listening to residents, visiting local businesses, meeting with community groups and holding events with constituents is simply the best way to know exactly what people want me to focus on in Harrisburg,” Marcell said. “That’s why it has always been a top priority for me, and always will be.”

Marcell was born and raised in Bucks County and graduated from Council Rock School District. She holds a master’s degree in public policy from the George Washington University and a bachelor of arts in political science from the Pennsylvania State University. Prior to being elected to the state House, Marcell spent more than two decades in the private sector, helping provide strategic and communications counsel to businesses in numerous fields. She also served on the Council Rock school board, first serving in 2018.

Marcell and her husband are the proud parents of two children and reside in Wrightstown with their dog Lilo.
