The Bucks County Bar Foundation hosted its annual Scholarship Reception Celebration on May 15, at the Bucks County Bar Association. This event brought together legal professionals, students and their families to recognize the outstanding recipients of the 2024 BCBF scholarships.

This year, the foundation received nearly 30 applications from highly-qualified and deserving students across Bucks County. After a thorough review process by the Scholarship Committee, the BCBF awarded 10 scholarships, divided equally between the Thomas E. Mellon Jr. Scholarship and the William Penn Scholarship.

The Thomas E. Mellon Jr. Scholarship Fund provides a scholarship to any candidate attending a four-year liberal arts education program who has shown extraordinary commitment to public service and/or community service. The William Penn Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance for the post-high school education of students interested in pursuing a career in law or a law-related field who have also shown commitment to public service or community service.

The recipients of the 2024 Thomas E. Mellon Jr. Scholarship were:

  • Teniola Onilari, Bensalem High School
  • Sophia Compitello, Council Rock High School South
  • Isabella Genuardi, New Hope-Solebury High School
  • Sukania Jacquet, Conwell-Egan Catholic High School
  • Bryanna Ramirez, Harry S. Truman High School

The recipients of the 2024 William Penn Scholarship were:

  • Axton Berry, George School
  • Leah Brouda, Central Bucks High School South
  • Reed Finch, New Hope-Solebury High School
  • Morgan Hammond, Pennridge High School
  • Jack Swartley, Central Bucks High School West

BCBF president Jeffrey Liebmann, Esq. opened the ceremony with a warm welcome and emphasized the foundation’s commitment to education and community support. He said, “We honored the achievements of these exceptional students and celebrated their bright futures.”

The Bar Foundation is financed through numerous community events held in support of these two scholarships, as well as individual donors from across Bucks County. Once again, the foundation was able to provide $10,000 in scholarships.
