Join the Southampton Free Library as it kicks off its Summer Quest program, an interactive version of summer reading, on Saturday, June 16. The summer program starts with a quest for dinosaurs.
Throughout the day, the library will offer various programs, chances of winning prizes and a free lunch. Starting at 10 a.m., there will be an interactive outdoor dinosaur themed story walk and lawn games.
From 11 to 11:30 a.m., paleontologists Mike and Roberta will discuss fossils they’ve found and host a dinosaur museum. At 11:30 a.m., children can participate in an interactive dinosaur dig (registration is required), or read to Casey the Border Collie. In addition, the library will begin serving both meat and vegetarian tacos at 11:30 a.m. as well as other treats and snacks.
At 2 p.m., learn how to play some of the board games in the library’s collection. Attendees of all ages are invited to earn a chance of winning a kickoff raffle prize when they register for the Libraries Rock Summer Quest program. Raffle prizes will include tickets to the Reading Fightin’ Phils, the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, the Bethlehem Steel FC and other great prizes. And perhaps, a special prehistoric visitor will join in on the fun!
By offering the Libraries Rock Summer Quest program, the Southampton Free Library hopes to expand access to new and different formats and provide the necessary tools to learn new skills. It seeks to be a community educational center that provides books and more. To learn more, visit southamptonfreelibrary.org or call 215–322–1415.
