Bucks County will hold its fifth suicide prevention and awareness walk on Sunday, April 28.

The #HoldOnYouMatter Walk to Fight Suicide will begin, rain or shine, at 10 a.m. at the campus of Bucks County Technical High School, 610 Wistar Road in Fairless Hills. Check-in and registration begins at 9 a.m.

“I am asking all residents of Bucks County to take a role in the county’s fifth suicide awareness walk because we need to show each other one simple thing: We all matter,” said Bucks County Commissioner Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia. “Raising awareness of suicide risk, raising funds toward prevention efforts, and raising support for survivors is an important step we can all take together.”

The event will be the fourth annual walk held in Lower Bucks County, and follows the first Upper Bucks walk held in Perkasie last November, when more than 500 participants showed up.

Together, the two #HoldOnYouMatter walks held in 2018 raised about $65,000 to help develop prevention, intervention and postvention activities to address suicide in Bucks County. About $150,000 has been raised since the event’s inception.

In addition to contributions from individuals, the walks have been supported by roughly 30 organizational sponsors over the last four years.
