PennDOT Reports $1.2B in Road, Bridge Projects Across Philly Region

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 6 team is nearing the end of the 2025 construction season that will include 56 new contracts worth more than $1.2 billion, to improve travel and safety on state highways and bridges across Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.

“This year we continued to advance our infrastructure program with 128 projects underway worth more than $3.4 billion across the region,” said PennDOT District 6 Executive Din Abazi. “This investment highlights our progress, care, and commitment to building, preserving, and improving safety and dependability on our roadway network. We thank the public for their patience throughout the construction season and thank our team and industry partners for their diligence and dedication delivering these projects.”

PennDOT has been hard at work improving Pennsylvania’s roads and bridges throughout the year, improving more than 5,700 miles of road, including over 1,700 miles of paving, and beginning work to repair, replace, or preserve 396 bridges from January through November of this year.

Under the Shapiro administration, 17,722 miles of roadway have been improved and work has advanced on 1,540 state and local bridges.

Overall highlights in the 2025 construction season for District 6 from January through mid-December include:

  • 56 projects put out to bid totaling $1.26 billion.
  • 31 construction contracts completed or substantially completed for highway, bridge, and other improvements through PennDOT’s private-sector partners.
  • 36 bridges were replaced or preserved.
  • 200 miles paved.
  • 246 miles of roadway maintenance performed.
