Hunger and homelessness are two serious, albeit relatively unknown crises across Bucks County. The good news is that everybody can play a key role in combatting both plights. National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week will take place between November 16th and November 22nd, and several partners in the Bucks County Housing Link are launching their fourth annual campaign to raise awareness and support for those experiencing hunger and/or homelessness. This week-long campaign will allow everybody to support their neighbors in need, whether it is through contributing, volunteering or simply heightening awareness.
Several county-wide activities have been scheduled. They include a day of remembrance for those lost in the homelessness community, volunteer opportunities, informational round table and panel discussions, a dine and donate event, an official proclamation at the Bucks County Commissioners’ Meeting and more.
Even though the week doesn’t launch until November 16th, it is not too early to learn more or get involved. Please view the agenda and follow the instructions/links to get involved. Participating entities include Bucks County Opportunity Council, Family Service, Bucks County Government, YWCA of Bucks County, Bucks County Housing Group, Advocates for the Homeless & Those in Need and Penndel Mental Health Center. All of these organizations will also include further information about the week on their social media platforms as the campaign approaches, as well as throughout the course of the week.
