“The Fierce Urgency of NOW” is the title of the 74th annual Freedom Fund Banquet, which will be hosted by the NAACP of Bucks County on October 18, 2025. The event will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. followed by the program. The fundraising event will be held at Parx Casino Racing, 2999 E. Street Road in Bensalem, Pa. 19020.
The keynote speaker for the evening will be Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor, Austin A. Davis, Pennsylvania’s first Black Lieutenant Governor and the youngest in the state’s history. Lt. Governor Davis brings energy, lived experience, and a strong track record of public service.
Raised in McKeesport, he launched his civic journey early—starting a youth advisory council and gun violence prevention program in high school. He served in the state House (2018–2022), becoming the first Black representative of his district, before ascending to Lt. Gov. in 2023. In his roles, Davis chairs the Board of Pardons, leads the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, and champions working-class Pennsylvanians, minority-owned businesses, violence prevention, and accountability in government.
The Branch will also recognize several people who have given back to the community through extraordinary acts of service and dedication to the preservation of civil rights for everyone.
