Community members, local officials and theater lovers gathered on Friday, April 25, to celebrate Arbor Day with a festive tree planting and kickoff event hosted by the New Hope Shade Tree Commission and Bucks County Playhouse. The event also marked the official launch of the Playhouse’s upcoming musical, “The Apple Boys,” which began performances May 2 and runs through May 25.
Held at 36 S. Main St., the celebration featured the planting of an apple tree in honor of both Arbor Day and the apple-themed musical. On behalf of the commission, Frank DeLucca delivered an official Arbor Day proclamation and spoke about the borough’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Nicole Hackmann, Executive Director of the Playhouse, greeted the crowd and acknowledged its connection to the upcoming musical, “The Apple Boys.” The Playhouse contributed to the planting of the tree.
The celebration also recognized the completion of the Central Business District Tree Pit Initiative, with the installation of Porous Pave material in the 39th tree pit in downtown New Hope.
