Local children have a chance to experience life in the 17th century and get their hands dirty with interactive activities at Pennsbury Manor’s new Time Travelers Club.
On the last Saturday of each month from March through the end of the year (excluding July, when Colonial Camp takes over the estate) from 10 to 11 a.m., the education team at William Penn’s reconstructed estate on the Delaware River in Bucks County, will take kids on a journey back in time.
Pennsbury Manor includes a Manor House, a museum, farm animals, stables, a kitchen house and kitchen garden, a blacksmith shop, riverfront views, and more on 43 acres.
Each month will have a different theme, from colonial activities to archaeology. The first session featured a visit with Pennbury’s oxen team, Michael and Roger. Participants got a chance to run a Simon Says-style obstacle course using the oxen’s voice commands.
Upcoming themes include butter churning, wool spinning, laundry day, and broom making. There will be (separate!) opportunities for dressing up in period attire and getting messy with hands-on activities.
The Time Traveler’s Club is a monthly children’s program for ages 6 and up. The cost to participate is $12 per child and $3 per adult. Advance sign-up is requested. Please email Kerry Scott at [email protected] or call (215)-946-0400 to register.
