Former Bucks County Solicitor Joe Khan has announced his candidacy for district attorney, setting up a competitive race against Republican incumbent Jennifer Schorn.
Khan, a prosecutor at the county and federal levels, gained recognition for defending Bucks County against President Donald Trump’s 2020 election challenges, alongside his efforts in consumer and environmental protection. His campaign follows a failed bid for Pennsylvania attorney general, where he finished third in a competitive five-way primary.
Schorn, a career prosecutor who took over the DA’s office in 2024, has built her reputation on tackling major cases, including high-profile murder convictions and the dismantling of sex trafficking rings. She has framed herself as a determined advocate for victims and questioned whether Khan’s ambitions align with the county’s needs or his own political aspirations.
Both candidates are expected to run unopposed in their respective primaries. While Bucks County has a Democratic-controlled board of commissioners, Republicans have dominated key row offices and are looking to capitalize on their recent electoral gains.
