As 2024 wrapped up, Lower Bucks County saw huge business developments, including major openings, closures, and sales.
From new supermarkets to the sale of a longtime shopping hub, here’s a look at the year’s highlights in this Bucks 2024 review.
The Neshaminy Mall, a landmark shopping destination, was sold in June to a company with established ties to the Philadelphia area and Lower Bucks County.
Following the sale, plans for revitalization were hinted at, sparking interest in the mall’s future and its potential impact on the Bucks County economy.
Amazon Fresh made waves by opening two long-delayed stores in the region.
One location on Street Road in Bensalem and another in Langhorne finally welcomed customers, which marked an exciting addition to the Bucks County business community and offered new shopping options.
In March, Bucks County celebrated opening its second Wegmans supermarket at Prickett Preserve in Warrington.
The new store, located at 925 Vansant Drive, became Wegmans’ 111th location nationwide and 19th in Pennsylvania, giving residents expanded grocery options while boosting the local Bucks County economy.
Fast-food chain Arby’s expanded its presence in October with a new location on Street Road in Warminster Township. The restaurant opened in the former Saladworks building at Center Point Place and complements an existing location near the Bensalem Township line.
One of the year’s notable closures involved Georgine’s Restaurant in Bristol Township.
The family-owned eatery, known for its longstanding reputation since 1977, was listed for sale. However, the owners reassured customers that the restaurant remains open and business continues as usual.
Expansions were also a theme this year. MaGerk’s Pub & Grill, a popular spot with locations in Horsham and Fort Washington, announced plans for a Bucks County expansion in February.
Similarly, Nifty Fifty’s, a nostalgic 1950s-style diner famous for its burgers and milkshakes, planned a second Bucks County location to join its existing spots in Abington and Warminster.
