Firearm/drug arrest
On Wednesday, Aug. 28, at approximately 2:43 p.m., a Bensalem Police Patrol Officer conducted a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Bristol Pike on a black Nissan Pathfinder SUV bearing PA registration MMN-4903. NCIC revealed the registration was suspended. The patrol officer approached the vehicle and contacted the driver, later identified as Taheem Armstrong, and front seat passenger, later identified as Kevin Williams.
Armstrong was found to have a DUI Suspended license and an active warrant out of Bensalem Township for Drug Delivery, entered into NCIC in May 2024. During the vehicle stop, Armstrong and Williams exited the Pathfinder and fled from the vehicle. Williams was in possession of a gray book bag as he fled the police, who set up a perimeter and tracked the subjects.
Police located the book bag in the area. It contained paperwork with Williams’ name, men’s underwear, toiletries, a bag of suspected heroin/fentanyl and a 9mm gray/black Bersa handgun. Police located approximately 30 grams of suspected heroin in the Pathfinder backseat, as well as a blender and a significant amount of packaging material (blue wax bags and unused trash can-style containers).
Bensalem Police set up a perimeter assisted by Pennsylvania State Police and Amtrak Police due to the proximity of the rail lines in the area. Law enforcement, including a K-9 Officer, continued to search for the suspects. After almost three hours, police spotted the subjects on Route 13 near Interstate 95 in Bensalem after fleeing from Pennsylvania State Police. PSP located and detained both Armstrong and Williams after a foot pursuit. Both subjects resisted arrest and failed to obey commands from the police. During the course of taking the subjects into custody, a PSP Trooper suffered an injury to his hand and head. He was treated at a local hospital and released.
Both subjects were found to have suspected marijuana in their possession when detained. Williams was found to have no permit to carry in NCIC and also a felony/conviction on his criminal history, not permitting him to possess/control a firearm. Armstrong, 36, of Bristol, was charged with narcotics offenses, resisting arrest and other related charges, along with traffic violations. He was arraigned by District Justice Terrence Hughes and bail was set at 10 percent of $200,000. Williams, 30, of Philadelphia, was charged with felon not to possess a firearm and other firearm-related charges, narcotics offenses and other related charges. Both were arraigned by Hughes, with bail set at 10 percent of $200,000. They were remanded to Bucks County Prison.
