Charles P. Casler, 40, of Philadelphia, has been arrested for the attempted robbery of a motor vehicle in Feasterville.

On Aug. 14, at 4:58 p.m., Lower Southampton Police responded to the report of an attempted motor vehicle theft at the intersection of Street Road and Central Avenue in Feasterville. Investigating officers spoke with the victim, who was filling up her vehicle at the Sunoco gas station when a man drove up in a red pickup truck, exited the truck and entered the driver side door of her vehicle. He closed the door as he sat in the driver seat and attempted to take her vehicle. However, the man was not successful because the car was not running, and the victim had the keys/key fob with her. He exited the vehicle, pushing past her and re-entering the Ford truck, in which he fled the area.

During this investigation, the Bucks County Communications Center received calls of an erratic driver operating a red Ford pickup truck, which matched the description, traveling along Bridgetown Pike. Lower Southampton officers checked the area for the vehicle and located it traveling along Bridgetown Pike southbound. The truck was stopped at the Elmwood Avenue intersection, where the driver resisted arrest and ran off before he was apprehended by the officers.

The man was identified as Casler, and was positively identified by the victim. Following arrest, he was found to be under the influence of narcotics and in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia. Casler was charged with the following offenses: Attempted Robbery of a motor vehicle, Attempted theft of a motor vehicle, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Public Drunkenness, Evading Arrest or Detention on foot, Possession of drugs and Drug Paraphernalia.

He was arraigned on these charges with bail set, and was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility to await his day in court. Further charges may be added, as it was later learned that the Ford pickup truck was reported stolen, entered by the Philadelphia Police Department.
