Family Service Association of Bucks County announced that Romeo Angelini, 17, a senior at Neshaminy High School, recently hosted a food drive outside the Giant grocery store in Langhorne. The event was a community effort to support the Family Service food pantry.

Angelini has been dedicated to giving back to the community since he was 10 years old. For the past seven years, he has celebrated his birthday by organizing a food drive and donating the collected items to the Family Service food pantry. His unwavering commitment to helping those in need was recognized last October, when he was honored at the agency’s annual golf outing. In acknowledgment of his support and generosity, Angelini received the Susan N. Altomari Champion for Youth Award. This prestigious award is given annually to individuals who positively impact the lives of youth in Bucks County through Family Service initiatives.

“I learned that food pantries often are in more need when my birthday comes around since it is just before the holidays in December,” said Angelini in a statement. “The gift of giving back is better than any present I could receive on my birthday.”

With this December marking his 18th birthday, Angelini wants to make an even bigger impact. He spoke to management at Giant, where he works, with the idea of hosting a large-scale food drive outside the store. Giant eagerly embraced the idea and agreed to support the initiative. In addition to collecting food donations, Giant sold hot dogs and pretzels to customers, and a face painter was present to entertain the children. All proceeds from these activities will be donated to Family Service.

Notable guests, including Sen. Frank Farry and state Rep. Joe Hogan, made an appearance in the morning to personally thank Angelini for his contributions to the community. Donations of non-perishable food items were accepted throughout the event.
