The Blue Bar, 119 York Road, Warminster, is rocking against hunger at a special fundraiser for the Warminster Food Bank on July 27, from 3 p.m. to midnight. The fundraiser will be an indoor/outdoor event with performances from seven local bands.
The outdoor portion takes place from 3 to 6 p.m. and features: Chuck Greenstreet and Friends, and Krimson Cirkus SideShow.
The indoor portion takes place from 6 p.m. to midnight and features: JAB, Castaway Carl and the Toasted Coconuts, Crossover Band, Swampy Jonz, and Shakin’ Not Stirred.
The fundraiser will also feature raffles and a 50/50 drawing. Donations of non-perishable food items, cash and supermarket gift cards will be accepted at the event. Items that are most needed are listed at warminsterfoodbank.org.
Items collected will help provide monthly groceries and supplies for families in need in Bucks and Montgomery counties. The Warminster Food Bank serves over 10,000 people a year, and 95 percent of the monetary donations received are used to provide groceries to local residents experiencing food insecurity.
“Food insecurity is a year-round problem,” said Mike Cerino, executive director of the Warminster Food Bank. “It is particularly difficult during the summer months since school is not in session and students are not receiving free or subsidized lunches, which help stretch a family’s food budget during the school year. We encourage folks to come out, enjoy some great live music, donate some non-perishable food items and help us lighten the load for those in need in our local communities.”
“We need to support friends and neighbors in our community, especially those in need,” said Theresa Drahovsky, co-owner of Blue Bar. “My husband Karl and I are very proud that Blue Bar can contribute and hold this event. We invite everyone to come out, donate a non-perishable food item, help out the Warminster Food Bank and have fun at the same time.”
