“Vegetable Gardening 101” is the featured program at the monthly meeting of the Trevose Horticultural Society on Tuesday, May 21, at 7 p.m. at the Bensalem Senior Center, 1850 Byberry Road, Bensalem.
Master Gardener Annie Milionis will provide essential information on how to grow vegetables at home. She will explain the necessary steps that need to be considered, such as choosing a site, soil testing and Ph, nutrients and amendments, types of gardening (in ground, raised beds or containers), maximizing the growing seasons and crop rotation.
Originally from Pike County, Milionis grew up on the family homestead and farm that dates to 1851. She attended Wilkes College (now University) for biology with a minor in philosophy. A resident of Lower Bucks County for more than 30 years, Milionis is employed as a professional gardener. She can be found gardening as a volunteer in many places around Lower Bucks County as well.
All meetings are open to the public; a donation of $5 is requested from non-members. For more information, call 856-866-9163, visit TrevoseGardeners.org or follow on Facebook.
